Trick or Treat Street 2011 was off the hook this year! It was such a success and so much fun, we are already getting excited for next year.

Local farmer’s market organizer Shelly Yorgesen will open up the Pier View Market at Snake River Landing starting Saturday, May 7, 2011. The market will take place near The Pier at Snake River Landing every Saturday from May 7 until October 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  This new market is the second market operated by the Yorgesen family, joining the Sunset Market at the Grand Teton Mall, now moved to Friday evenings 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.  May 13 to Sept 30, 2011.

Pier View Market, created by the Yorgesen family and their partner Mark Andrews, will be a unique family-focused market that will deliver fresh produce, artisan gifts and entertainment for children and adults alike. “We believe that our market offers something very complimentary to the ambiance of Snake River Landing and will be the perfect event to bring your family to every Saturday,” says Yorgesen.  The Market will have a ‘Farmer’s Market Street,’  where you can find meats, eggs, cheese, dairy, produce etc., an ‘Artisan Street,’ for crafters of all types,  a ‘Commercial Street’  where business are welcome to come advertise and sell all types of commercial goods and of course a ‘Food court’ serving local fare.

The market’s primary goal is to support local farmers and small businesses throughout southeast Idaho.  “As a small business owner myself, I know the power of building brand awareness and a strong customer base through market participation. I love seeing our vendors succeed beyond their expectations and provide for their families,” says Yorgesen.   An exciting new feature adding to the market experience is called ‘Farm Fresh to You.’  ‘Farm Fresh to You’ allows you to customize a basket from locally-grown freshly harvested produce, which will be ready for you to pick up each market day.  See the market website for more information on ordering your ‘Farm Fresh to You’ share.  There are only 40 shares for sale in 2011!

The market organizers and vendors looked at several locations around Idaho Falls before choosing Snake River Landing. “I had attended several community events hosted by Snake River Landing and thought it was the ideal venue for a farmer’s market. When we first began looking into creating a new market, we all agreed that Snake River Landing provided the right ambiance and a beautiful location for our vendors and guests,” continues Yorgesen.

Snake River Landing chief development officer, Eric Isom couldn’t agree more. “Snake River Landing is pleased to host the Pier View Market. With its convenient location next to the Greenbelt, ample parking, and outdoor beauty, Snake River Landing is the perfect place to enjoy an outdoor market,” he says.

Light up your holiday season with a spectacular Holiday Light Show at Snake River Landing. Starting today, the lights along Milligan Road and on the Pier at Snake River Landing will be synchronized to your favorite holiday music broadcast on 88.1 FM and will run 5 p.m. - 12 a.m. nightly through the holiday season.

The Holiday Light Show features over 26,500 feet of lights (approximately 52,000 individual light bulbs) wrapped along the trees and garlands on the pier, and is controlled by a wireless system. Over the past month, Outback Landscape, Inc. of Rexburg, Idaho has created this spectacular lighting displaying by wrapping over 100 trees and the arches of the 4,000 square foot.

Bring in the holiday cheer on December 3, 2010 with a signature holiday event put on by Snake River Landing and Idaho Falls Downtown Development Corporation.

The event kicks off in Historic Downtown from 3-5:30 p.m. Stroll the streets of our beautiful downtown while listening to Christmas Caroling from The Girl Scouts, hop on the free holiday trolley, watch the annual lighting of the downtown Christmas Trees at 5:15 p.m. and explore their unique shops during the Elf Treasure Hunt.

You can also enter your gingerbread house in the Gingerbread House Contest, for a chance to have your house featured in the Museum of Idaho! Sign up today!

Join in with other community members in the first annual Elf Fun Run 5k and 1 Mile Jingle Walk starting at Civitan Plaza and winding down the greenbelt and finally ending at the festivities at Snake River Landing. There will be prizes awarded for the best Holiday Costume and a raffle of other great prizes!

Events at Snake River Landing will go from 5:30-8 p.m. Participants can look forward to singing along to live holiday entertainment, free trolley rides, holiday activities, craft fair, and festive foods. Children will have the opportunity to ask for a wish from Santa himself at the Snake River Landing Discovery Center where families are encouraged to bring their own camera to capture the event!

Also, join in the Holiday Treat Throwdown to benefit the Military Affairs Committee. 100% of the holiday treat entry fees will go towards holiday packages to our local troops  serving overseas.
