Proposed Events Center Moving Forward: Auditorium District is Proposed
The Idaho Falls Conventions & Visitors Bureau has taken the next step in funding the proposed events center, by calling for the creation of an Auditorium District. An Auditorium District would all for a tax up to 5%, to be charged to patrons staying at hotels located in Idaho Falls. This is very common throughout Idaho and the U.S. The revenue from this tax would be one of the options to fund the events center. If you are registered to vote as an Idaho Fall resident, you are invited to sign a petition in support of the Auditorium District. Approximately 3000 signatures are needed in order to get the initiative on the ballot for an August 2010 special election. You may sign the petition at the Snake River Landing Discovery Center (next to Bella Vita Coffeehouse), The Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce and Grow Idaho Falls.
