Central Valley Trail & Water Feature
The Central Valley Trail is a private trail open to the public. The trail offers a mile and a half long paved pathway which leads to the Central Valley 3.3 acre lake and is surrounded by green space and other pedestrian-friendly amenities. Whether it’s a stroll with the family or a jog after work, you will be filled with a sense of peace as you follow the trail and encounter a series of ponds and nature amenities along the way.
The Vista Trail winds through the business and residential areas with portions running along the Porter Canal. The Vista Trail also connects with the Central Valley Trail, the Idaho Falls Riverwalk greenbelt system and other paths that run throughout SRL.
At over 14 acres, Heritage Park is a project by the City of Idaho Falls made possible by land donation and commitments by private and non-profit partners. The park is located near the southern entrance to SRL off Sunnyside Road. The park will rival other Idaho Falls parks not only in size but also beauty. Here the river shows many personalities, from tumbling waves, rocky outcroppings, and shallow pools to waterfalls over basalt lava rocks and river eddies perfect for fishing.
Features in the proposed master plans for the park include a trail network connecting to the greater Idaho Falls Riverwalk trail system, a river overlook from the Snake River Promontory, a community gathering space with an amphitheater and much more that will enable community members and visitors to appreciate the natural beauty within Idaho Falls. Upon completion of the park now under construction, the community and visitors to Idaho Falls can discover views of the beautiful Snake River in the city’s newest natural playground.
